Curiouser and Curiouser

I was headed toward Lake Michigan, fast walking as I was hoping to catch the sunset. The sun descended more quickly than I'd wished as my eyes followed the quiet rustle of beach grass to her. My company noted that the deer probably couldn't smell me, as the wind was favoring me. I like to think animals can tell your intention. She watched me as I watched her. The space was shared with curiosity, until the lack of sun sent it's commentators and ourselves home.
